Speyside offers an extensive range of dining opportunities to suit all tastes and budgets. Here is a small selection of eateries of which we have personal experience and can recommend with confidence as giving excellent value for money.
Smiffy’s Restaurant - Grampian Road, Aviemore (opposite Tesco)
For simply the best fish and chips in Speyside. They have won national awards regularly.
Old Bridge Inn - Dalfaber Road, Aviemore
Charming, but small, restaurant/pub offering an innovative range of home cooked meals complemented by a good range of real ales and malt whiskies. Handy walks by the River Spey nearby to walk off your dinner.
The Einich - situated in the old Schoolhouse at Rothiemurcus on the road to Cairngorm Mountain.
Open daily 9.30am - 5pm for soup/well filled gourmet sandwiches and home baking.
Evening meals Wednesday - Saturday 6.30pm - 9pm.

Lisi’s Country Kitchen - on the Aviemore to Grantown road near the junction to Boat of Garten.
Excellent quality home cooking and value, with very good range of home made sweets. The premises are a Norwegian style log house and the owner, an expert woodturner, offers for sale an extensive range of woodcrafted items produced from local hardwoods.
Craggan Mill Restaurant and Gallery - situated between Dulnain Bridge and Grantown on Spey.
A nice run and a meal to remember from the Speyside Chef of the Year.
Ossian House Hotel, Kincraig - situated within the village of Kincraig between Aviemore and Kingussie.
This very comfortable family hotel offers excellent meals using local produce complemented by a well stocked bar.
